Tweed Pro® 5E5-A Style Guitar Tube Amp Kit

Mojotone’s Tweed Pro Style Amp Kit is based on the ~20-30 watt wide panel model produced from 1955-1960. These amps had a unique flavor, and came with a fat sounding 15 inch speaker that helped create hallmark sounds for artists like Tom Petty and Tom Principato. This 5E5-A circuit saw the return of the negative feedback loop in Fender Tweed era amps, giving it a rich and full harmonic composure.

The amp utilizes two 6L6GC power tubes for 20 to 30 watts of extremely versatile sounding output that can either be creamy and clean, or produce a warm grit. We chose the Jensen C15N 50 Watt 15 inch speaker to complement the 5E5-A style circuit since it has a tight low end with clear, bright highs and responds well to overdrive.

Global controls include presence, bass, and treble for a multitude of sonic variations. There are two channels, bright and normal, and each has two inputs. The normal channel is more tame with a slightly warmer overall sound, while the bright channel has more aggressive highs and breaks up slightly faster. These inputs can not only be used in a traditional fashion but can also be ‘jumpered’ together and blended, via their dedicated volume controls, for even more sound options.
